MayBudget is designed as an offline-first payday budget tracker. Your budget, expense, category, setting, backup, import, and export data is stored locally on your device unless you choose to share, export, or back it up elsewhere.
Information MayBudget Stores
MayBudget lets you enter and manage personal finance information such as budget items, expense items, amounts, categories, recurrence rules, cycle dates, notes, and app settings.
This information is stored in a local SQLite database on your device. The current app design does not require an account, cloud sync, or a remote server to use the core budget tracking features.
Information MayBudget Does Not Collect
- MayBudget does not collect your financial records on a server.
- MayBudget does not sell your personal information.
- MayBudget does not use your data for advertising.
- MayBudget does not include cloud sync in the MVP app design.
- MayBudget does not receive your fingerprint, Face ID, or other biometric template.
Local Storage
Your app data is saved locally so MayBudget can work offline. Normal app screens, summaries, search results, notifications, and exports use active records and exclude soft-deleted records.
When you delete an item, MayBudget may keep it temporarily as a soft-deleted record and automatically purge it after the app's configured retention period, which is 30 days in the MVP design.
Backups, Import, and Export
MayBudget supports manual backup and restore, plus CSV or XLSX import and export. These actions are controlled by you.
- Backup files may contain the local app database and a backup manifest.
- Export files are intended for spreadsheet apps and include active, non-deleted budget and expense records.
- If you save, share, upload, or send a backup or export file to another app or service, that destination may handle the file under its own privacy policy.
Biometric Lock
MayBudget can use your device's biometric authentication feature to help lock the app. Biometric verification is handled by your device operating system. MayBudget does not receive or store biometric templates.
Notifications
MayBudget can send local reminders for payday budget cycles and backup reminders if you enable them. Notification scheduling is handled on your device. You can disable notifications in the app settings or your device settings.
Permissions
MayBudget may request permissions only when needed for app features, such as biometric unlock, local notifications, file picking, file sharing, backup, restore, import, or export. You can manage these permissions through your device settings.
Your Choices
- You can add, edit, duplicate, export, import, back up, and delete your records.
- You can turn biometric lock and notifications on or off.
- You can delete the app to remove its local app data from your device, subject to your device and backup settings.
- You are responsible for managing backup and export files that you save or share outside the app.
Security
MayBudget is built to keep data local to your device and can use your device's biometric authentication for an added lock screen. No method of storage or device security is perfect, so you should protect your device passcode and be careful when sharing backup or export files.
Children's Privacy
MayBudget is a personal budgeting utility and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated if MayBudget adds new features, changes its data handling, or needs to reflect platform or legal requirements. The updated version will show a new last updated date.
